What is Chiropractic?

Neurological-based and specific chiropractic adjustments help your body heal from the inside out by removing interference in your nervous system. Chiropractic adjustments improve and help restore proper spinal alignment, which allows for optimal nerve communication within your body. Whether you are in pain, experiencing other symptoms, or just want to achieve optimal wellness – we will put together a specific plan for you to help achieve your goals.

What to Expect at a Chiropractic Exam

At your first appointment, you will have a consultation and exam with Dr. Samantha, a three-part neurological scan, and possibly your first adjustment, if deemed necessary. Dr. Samantha will review your scans and go through them with you at your second appointment along with the care plan specifically designed for you.

What are Neurological Scans?

Dr. Samantha utilizes an advanced chiropractic technology, the Insight Subluxation Station, that scans your spine and creates a computerized image of the stress and tension on your nervous system. These three different technologies are completely non-invasive and provide us with an objective assessment. They also allow us to track your progress from a functional standpoint as that is in many ways more beneficial than how you are feeling.

Surface EMG

Surface Electromyography measures the amount of electrical energy in the muscles along your spine. Subluxations in your spine disturb the function of the nervous system which can produce too much or too little electrical activity in your muscles. This test measures how much energy is needed to maintain your posture and how it is distributed throughout the muscles. By precisely measuring muscle activity, your progress can be followed as your spine releases tension and you regain more control.

This scan measures temperature along your spine. When there are disturbances to your nervous system along the spine, this can create inflammation and changes in blood flow which often leads to a difference in temperature side to side. This scan reveals the condition of your autonomic nervous system which controls your organs, glands, and blood vessels. Each organ system relies on clear and balanced nerve signals to work efficiently. Nerve interference that is detected by this sensor is valuable in understanding and planning health and wellness strategies.

Heart Rate Variability (HRV)

This piece of the scan shows us how well your body can adapt and respond to stress in the environment around you. It does this by looking at the timing of your pulse, and determining the balance and tension within your nervous system. Stressful lifestyle habits including poor dietary choices, limited exercise and constant emotional aggravation can cause the body to be caught in the “fight-flight” response. This can lead to exhaustion and a draining of a person’s reserves. Low heart rate variability is associated with accelerated aging and poor heart health. Published research has shown that chiropractic adjustments have a beneficial effect on heart rate variability.
