Simone Childs-Walker, MD, is trained in Family Medicine and brings osteopathic manual medicine and functional medicine to her practice.
Simone was led to a career in medicine through her innate awareness of the interconnectedness of all life, encompassing the relationship between diet, environment, spirituality, and health. She pursued holistic health, both through academic learning and her own personal healing journey. She completed her residency in Family Practice at Hennepin Healthcare and is pleased to blend her medical training with her holistic health experience at Newbridge. Within integrative medicine, her focus has been on osteopathic manual medicine, and she has gained skills that allow her to effectively treat patients for musculoskeletal as well as “psychosomatic” and more vague complaints. Through the University of Minnesota’s Center for Spirituality and Healing, Simone gained even deeper insights into health and wellbeing and how to help patients achieve their health goals.
Through her own meditation and mind-body practices, Simone is able to bring a healing presence to her patients. Her residency experience caring for patients from diverse, global, and disadvantaged walks of life has reinforced her commitment to equity – not only in access to healthcare, but in access to practices and tools that help people heal and flourish. Newbridge’s purpose to increase access for all people to holistic care resonates deeply with Simone. In residency, she became a leader on issues of diversity and antiracism. Simone looks forward to meeting patients and colleagues where they are and taking the next clear step together – in life and in health, by collaborating on functional approaches to prenatal care, group visit facilitation and developing tools in integrative oncology. Simone’s greatest honor is the opportunity to learn alongside her patients on their healing journeys.
